SAP APPLICATION MAINTENANCE BECOMES THE GATEWAY FOR SUBSEQUENT PROJECT-RELATED ACTIVITIES AND FOR THE MIGRATION TO NEXT-GENERATION PROCESSES
The Application Maintenance Service(AMS) has the primary objective of guaranteeing the continuity of use and adequacy over time of the company’s applications. When initiating an Application Maintenance relationship, the specific needs of the customer, the expected service level, the development priorities and user support methods, and the effort devoted to evolutionary maintenance activities based on the size and objectives of the company are considered first.
Main technical features of the AMS service:
CORRECTIVE MAINTENANCE – Correction of application malfunctions.
DATABASE TUNING – Monitoring of application performance, storage growth trends and application tuning of database accesses.
EVOLUTIONARY MAINTENANCE – Interventions aimed at adapting applications to new business needs.
USER SUPPORT – 1st and 2nd level Help Desks. “How-to” enquiries resolved with the help of the knowledge base.
SYSTEM MONITORING – System monitoring activities in order to verify the correct execution of scheduled work.
SERVICE MANAGEMENT – Service governance activities, communication management, reporting and analysis of the level of service provided.
There are four main stages:
- GOVERNANCE – Definition of roles and responsibilities.
- PLANNING – Plan for the delivery of the Knowledge Transfer and definition of monitoring arrangements and frequency.
- KIT DELIVERY – Delivery of the kit defined in the planning phase and sharing of the relevant documentation.
- MONITORING – Checking the progress of the transition phase and if necessary, corrective actions.
