The Castello dei Conti di Acerra enhancement project incorporates multimedia exhibitions and innovative installations that leverage immersive technologies to enrich the physical environment.

Upon reaching the castle’s threshold, visitors are welcomed by the rear-projections of two symbolic characters from important moments in the history of Acerra: Gnaeus Stennius Egnatius, priest of Isis and Serapis, and Maria Giuseppa De Cardenas, the last countess of Acerra. Some areas of the castle were restored for her wedding. The exterior of the complex features multi-projections facilitated by six projectors.

The Museum journey begins on the ground floor of the Castle, where touch monitors dedicated to the history of the old manor are located at the entrance.

On the second floor, the Multimedia Museum offers two pathways: one dedicated to history and archaeology, and another to musical traditions, allowing visitors to listen to symphonies dedicated to the city and performed by the city’s Music Band.

Within the Multimedia Museum, visitors encounter digital texts and insights into agriculture, peasant civilisation, and the history of finds and artefacts preserved in the Castle. There are also videos dedicated to the Acerra massacre carried out by German soldiers in 1943, leading to the city being awarded the Gold Medal for Civil Merit.

To enhance the overall visitor experience, a new website and a dedicated, modern visitors app have been introduced to provide memories and insights.
